As you sit, surveying the wreckage of an entertainment landscape that seems determined to shit the bed at every opportunity, despairing at the sheer self-satisfied idiocy on display at just about every studio and production house, at least console yourself that they made Reacher.
The most simple, straightforward adaption of simple, straightforward novels about a simple, straightforward protagonist is television done right. Respect the source material, stay true to the characters, and you won’t go far wrong. The books have sold millions of copies for a reason.
Not only do we have a second season of Reacher to look forward to in under two weeks, but there should be much rejoicing. Amazon has announced that not only have they officially renewed Reacher for a third season, but filming on the new run is already underway and it will be here faster than season two arrived.
Reacher himself. Alan Ritchson, made the announcement Saturday in a video for the CCXP convention in São Paulo, Brazil. Ritchson is an executive producer for the third season.
Season one remains one of Amazon’s biggest original shows, making The Rings Of Power look even more like an expensive folly than usual. Nobody knows which of the novels the third season will be based on. Season one was based on the first book, The Killing Floor. Season two is based on the eleventh book, Bad Luck and Trouble.
The title is derived from the song lyrics by singer Albert King – Born Under a Bad Sign.
The book begins with a man with two broken legs being thrown out of a corporate helicopter from 3,000 feet above the California desert. This sets in motion a series of events that will see Reacher try to uncover who is killing members of his former U.S. Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations.
Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates (Maria Sten, Serinda Swan, and Shaun Sipos), who begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn. Whoever is responsible is about to find out what trouble really is.
