Tim Burton has marked the conclusion of filming on the “Beetlejuice” sequel with a new photo on Instagram showing himself on what appears to be the return of the afterlife waiting room set.
The long-gestating follow-up to the 1988 comedy began shooting in May and was then shut down over the summer due to the SAG-AFTRA strike with less than two days left of filming to complete.
A week after the actor’s strike ended, and two weeks ago, film crews and cast members were spotted filming in the town of Melrose, Massachusetts with scenes being shot and wrapping up that weekend.
It seems things went on a little longer going by Burton’s post, certainly longer than the day-and-a-half he suggested back in September.
Michael Keaton is back as the eponymous character alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. They’re joined by Ortega, Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, and Monica Bellucci.
The project is famously going back to basics with use of practical effects as much as possible, something both Burton and Keaton have discussed and have said they immensely enjoyed.
Warner Bros. Pictures is set to release “Beetlejuice 2” in cinemas on September 6th 2024.
