AMC Theatres has announced that the ultimate Christmas movie – John McTiernan’s “Die Hard” – will be returning to cinemas with a re-release on select screens on December 8th.
The original film follows New York City cop John McClane (Bruce Willis) as he joins a holiday party at Nakatomi Plaza, the Los Angeles office where his estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) works.
However, the event takes a violent turn when a group of thieves posing as terrorists holds everyone inside hostage. McClane realizes he must take matters into his own hands.
The film also stars Alexander Godunov as Karl, Reginald VelJohnson as Al Powell, Paul Gleason as Dwayne T. Robinson, Clarence Gilyard as Theo, and Alan Rickman as Hans Gruber.
The film was such. success it spawned four sequels and has long spawned a debate about whether it’s a Christmas movie as Christmas elements are woven into the storyline.
The re-release will run for only a limited time so check it out while you can and follows just two days after the one night only re-release of another late 1980s classic, James Cameron’s “The Abyss,” hits cinemas on December 6th.
