Following on from the first 60th anniversary special episode “The Star Beast” now being available on BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Disney+ around the rest of the world, the trailer for the second special has aired.

In “Wild Blue Yonder”, the TARDIS takes the Doctor and Donna “to the furthest edge of adventure” and to escape, they “must face the most desperate fight of their lives, with the fate of the universe at stake”.

It’s a rather generic synopsis for what is said to be the biggest risk-taking episode of the specials and one that offers the best representation of what to expect from next year’s “Doctor Who” first full season with Ncuti Gatwa in the role.

The trailer itself similarly remains enigmatic – only The Doctor and Donna are seen in the trailer which sees the TARDIS landing on what appears to be a rundown space station or alien planetary facility in disrepair.

The Doctor detects life signs, the pair get separated at one point, and Donna asks “what are they?” as they look on in shock at something. This appears to be the episode where the “TARDIS ran away” clip from the trailer originates from.

Tom Kingsley directs from a script by showrunner Russell T. Davies. The episode is set to be released on December 2nd.
