Christopher Nolan wants to make it clear – he is not doing a James Bond as his next project.
Last month came a flurry of reports suggesting the “Inception” and “Interstellar” director was in talks to direct not one, but two films for the franchise.
They indicated whilst he hadn’t made a deal, he was on board ‘in principle’ for the new Bond which would return to the original 1950s period setting of Ian Fleming’s novels.
Nolan has now shut down such speculative reporting, saying quite clearly: “No, sadly no – no truth to those rumors” to the Associated Press in an interview while promoting the home video release of “Oppenheimer”. Denials rarely come much clearer.
Nolan has long been a major fan of the Bond franchise, saying the influence of those movies in his filmography is “embarrassingly apparent” earlier this year and adding that it would be an “amazing privilege” to do one.
Nolan has remained quiet about his next project. Similarly, Bond producers have said little about their search for a new actor to take on the Bond role following Daniel Craig’s departure with “No Time to Die”.
