The first photos are out from Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series spin-off of his 2019 crime caper comedy “The Gentlemen” starring Theo James, Vinnie Jones, Kaya Scodalerio, Giancarlo Esposito, Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson and Peter Serafinowicz.
The eight-part drama series is set in the world of the film but not starring the original characters, even as the legacy of Matthew McConaughey’s Mickey Pearson character plays a part in the overall concept.
The series follows Eddie Halstead (James), who has inherited his father’s sizeable estate only to discover that it’s sitting on top of a weed empire owned by the legendary Mickey Pearson.
Has this straight-up soldier got what it takes to master the dark arts of the British criminal underworld and take control of the entire operation?
Jones plays the estate’s groundskeeper, Scodalerio the drug empire’s business overseer, Ings as Eddie’s older brother Freddy, and Richardson as Eddie and Freddy’s mother.
Ritchie serves as creator, co-writer and executive producer and directs the first two episodes. Matthew Read co-writes and executive produces.
Charlie Hunnam, Jeremy Strong, Hugh Grant and Colin Farrell co-starred in the original film. The new “The Gentlemen” series is expected to premiere next year on the streamer.
