Disney has cancelled its “The Muppets Mayhem” series after just one season on the Disney+ streaming service.
Ordered back in early 2022, “The Goldbergs” creator Adam F. Goldberg developed and penned the ten-episode series with “Muppets” alums Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes executive producing.
Premiering in May, the show follows the old-school Muppet band The Electric Mayhem Band who set out to record their first-ever platinum album in the current-day music scene.
Lilly Singh played the (human) lead role of Nora, a driven junior A&R executive tasked with managing and wrangling the band which included Dr. Teeth, Floyd Pepper, Janie, Zoot, Lips and Animal.
Tahj Mowry, Saara Chaudry and Anders Holm also starred in the series which was backed by ABC Signature and The Muppets Studio. Michael Bostick, Kris Eber, David Lightbody and Leigh Slaughter also executive produced.
It marked the latest Muppets project to be set up at Disney+ following “Muppets Haunted Mansion” in October 2021,” and “Muppets Now” in July 2020.
