Charlie Brooker’s hit sci-fi series “Black Mirror” is coming back for a seventh season and will head into production later this year.
Brooker, Annabel Jones and Jessica Rhoades are expected to be returning with story details and the number of episodes being kept under wraps.
The episodic anthology series returned after a four-year hiatus earlier this year with its sixth season garnering record viewing numbers on Netflix – making the Top 10 in 92 countries and spending 4 weeks in Netflix’s global top 10 English-speaking TV.
No casting has been confirmed yet for the new season, though the last two seasons have included such alum as Josh Hartnett, Salma Hayek, Scott, Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Aaron Paul and Miley Cyrus.
The sixth season was seen as a ‘refresh’ of what the property was about – moving away from the show’s earlier core theme of the dangers of technology.
Starting out life on British TV before moving to Netflix for its third season onwards, the long delay prior to this year’s season tied to legal issues surrounding the rights to the property after Brooker and Jones exited their House of Tomorrow production company to start Broke and Bones.
