Netflix has announced that Kevin Smith’s “Masters of the Universe: Revolution,” the follow-up to his “He-Man” sequel/reboot series “Masters of the Universe: Revelation,” will launch January 25th.
In addition, the first teaser trailer for the series has arrived and can be seen below. The previous season was ten episodes split into two five-episode releases and the trailer listing here indicates five episodes.
It’s technology versus magic as the newly mechanized Skeletor, armed with the might of Motherboard, attacks the heart of Eternia while Prince Adam grapples with a new responsibility and what that means for him as He-Man. Adam is forced to choose between the scepter or the sword, and a life as either the King or the Champion.
Meanwhile, the new Sorceress Teela searches for the secret of Snake Magic in the mists of Darksmoke to rebuild a magic realm and help He-Man hold off the greatest threat Eternia has ever faced: the return of the despot Hordak, the ruthless leader of the Horde Empire!
Numerous voice actors from the previous season return including Chris Wood as Prince Adam/He-Man, Mark Hamill as Skeletor, Liam Cunningham as Man-at-Arms, Lena Headey as Evil-Lyn, Diedrich Bader as King Randor, Tiffany Smith as Andra, Tony Todd as Scare Glow, and Griffin Newman as Orko.
They’re joined by four more. Former “Supergirl” star Melissa Benoist takes over the role of Teela from Sarah Michelle Gellar, the one and only Keith David appears to be voicing Hordak, Meg Foster returning to the franchise as the voice of AI villain Motherboard, and William Shatner has an undisclosed role.
Kevin Smith, Ted Biaselli, Rob David, Christopher Keenan, and Frederic Soulie executive produce.
