Toho has premiered the full trailer for “Godzilla Minus One,” the newest period live-action “Godzilla” movie which is set to premiere in Japan today.
The story unfolds in an already devastated post-war Japan where the kaiju goes on a rampage, but further plot specifics are under wraps. Takashi Yamazaki, who handled the visual effects on 2016’s “Shin Godzilla,” writes and directs this outing.
This marks the second of the live-action Reiwa era “Godzilla” films following that 2016 entry. Three animated films for Netflix were also released as a part of that era.
It comes alongside the “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” series premiering shortly on Apple TV+ along with the feature “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” hitting cinemas in May next year.
Ryunosuke Kamiki, Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando and Kuranosuke Sasaki star in the film.
“Godzilla Minus One” will get a U.S. theatrical release on December 1st which includes an IMAX release.
