69-year-old action icon Jackie Chan has reportedly lined up the action-comedy feature “Panda Plan” as an upcoming feature he will star in.
The film centers on a rare baby panda born with a dark circle around just one eye, the creature quickly becomes a worldwide sensation when he’s born at China’s Noah Zoo.
A tycoon dispatches international mercenaries to kidnap the zoo’s baby pandas. This forces Chan, who is playing a version of himself as an international action star, to get involved with a panda defense battle breaking out in the wildlife park.
Shi Ce (“Hi, Mom”), Wei Xiang (“Full River Red”) and Han Yanbo (“The Super Family”) co-star in the film which is being sold this week at the American Film Market. Chinese filmmaker Zhang Luan (“Song of Youth”) directs for Mandarin Motion Pictures and Wishart Media Co.
Chan has been incredibly prolific of late. He recently voiced Splinter in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem” and Long in “Wish Dragon,” co-starred with John Cena in “Hidden Strike,” led this past April’s action-drama “Ride On” to $30 million success in China, and has “Kung Fu Panda 4” on the way along with his own directorial effort “The Diary”.
