Oscar nominee Vanessa Kirby and “Euphoria” breakout Sydney Sweeney are joining the previously announced Jude Law, Ana de Armas and Daniel Bruhl in Ron Howard’s survival thriller “Eden”.

Kirby and Sweeney respectively replace actresses Alicia Vikander and Daisy Edgar-Jones who were originally slated for their roles. Hans Zimmer is also onboard as composer, his tenth collaboration with Howard.

Kirby will next be seen in Ridley Scott’s “Napoleon” movie whilst Sweeney is co-starring with Glenn Powell in upcoming rom-com “Anyone But You”.

Previously titled “Origin Of Species,” the story is based on an unsolved mystery that unfolded on a remote island in the Galapagos and charts the lengths humans will go in pursuit of happiness.

It has been a dream project of Howard who has wanted to tell the story for fifteen years. “Tetris” scribe Noah Pink came onboard a few years back just before the pandemic.

Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder produce and filming aims to begin at the end of November in Queensland, Australia where Howard also shot “Thirteen Lives”. A small unit will film in the Galapagos.
