You could go outside. Break out your winter coat for the first time this year, wrap up against the chill and do the awkward no-after-you dance with a fellow human being on a narrow pavement. But really, is it worth the bother? Inside is where it’s really happening. Inside is where the television lives.

We’re fully into cosy season on UK TV. Brand new Taskmaster and The Great British Bake-Off are marching us towards the end of the year, accompanied by some spooky seasonal delights in the form of acclaimed US series Interview with the Vampire on BBC Two, and Mike Flanagan’s final chilling Netflix series The Fall of the House of Usher (nothing to do with the American singer, trust us). Technically spooky but really just lovely is the final series of BBC comedy Ghosts, currently airing on Friday evenings on BBC One.

Tom Hiddleston is back too in Loki season two, with new episodes arriving weekly on Disney+. There’s a new South Park special airing on Saturday the 28th of October, Jodie Whittaker takes on another non-Doctor role in Jimmy McGovern’s prison drama Time the day after, and for crime drama fans, Shetland returns soon to BBC One starring Ashley Jensen in the lead role.

We’ll update this list of TV highlights weekly with more shows, dates and times as the release announcements arrive. If you’re based in the US, here’s where to look for the relevant info.
