Respawn Entertainment, the company behind “Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order,” “Apex Legends” and “Titanfall 2,” is developing a first-person game based on the Mandalorian race from the “Star Wars” universe.
Insider Gaming broke the news, saying the title is in its earliest stages of development with ‘mobility’ and ‘style’ being the key words in how the game’s being designed.
Players will take control of a Mandalorian bounty hunter, it’s not clear which one, during the time when the Galactic Empire is dominating across the galaxy. As a bounty hunter you must capture bounties dead or alive for cash rewards.
The Mandalorian’s jetpack allows the player to perform horizontal dashing, vertical jumping, boost sliding and more and the game is said to be “very fast-paced” with health regenerating based on successive kills.
Some confusion initially arose that Mohammad Alavi was directing the game but it was later revealed he instead was attached to a now canceled “Apex Legends” title.
Weapons and gadgets include a wrist rocket, grapple hook, a visor for tagging enemies and bounties, and more. It will NOT be an open world, but rather involve linear levels across different planets in the Star Wars universe.
In terms of release we’re at the very least a year or two away, likely more.
