More than five years after its last season, AMC will revive its anthology series “The Terror” for a third run.
The network has handed out an official order for the six-part series “The Terror: Devil in Silver” which will be based on the 2013 novel “The Devil in Silver” by Victor LaValle.
The story follows Pepper, a working-class moving man who, through a combination of bad luck and a bad temper, finds himself wrongfully committed to New Hyde Psychiatric Hospital.
There, he must contend with patients who work against him, doctors who harbor grim secrets and perhaps even the very devil himself – a hellscape where nothing is as it seems and the only path to freedom is to face down the entity that thrives on the suffering within New Hyde’s walls.
Doing so might prove that the worst demons of all live inside him. LaValle and “Halt and Catch Fire” showrunner Chris Cantwell will co-write the new season whilst filmmaker Karyn Kusama will direct the first two episodes.
Kusama, Cantwell, LaValle, David Zucker, Alexandra Milchan, Guymon Casady and Scott Lambert executive produce. The series is targeting a 2025 airing.
The first season in 2018 adapted Dan Simmons’ novel, a fictionalized account of Sir John Franklin’s lost naval expedition to find the Northwest Passage. The second dealt with shape-shifting force locked up with prisoners in a Japanese internment camp.
