After their success with “Inglourious Basterds” and “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” together, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and actor Brad Pitt will re-team for the director’s final film “The Movie Critic”.
Deadline broke the news, saying Pitt is set for the film but it’s unclear if he will play the title character. They suggest he is and that Sony Pictures will distribute the film with a 2025 release planned – but no distributor is officially set yet.
Previously it has been indicated the film is set in Southern California in 1977 and revolves around a cynical movie critic Tarantino read growing up who would write great reviews for skin mags.
It’s also expected to include recreations of films from the era but with alterations, most notably the Paul Schrader-penned “Rolling Thunder”.
The new report indicates Tarantino has done “quite a bit of rewriting since then so it’s not clear how much of what little we know so far has changed.
Late last year Tarantino scored just over $20 million in tax credits from the California Film Commission to shoot his project in the state this year.
