By DC Studios boss James Gunn has confirmed that the upcoming animated series “Creature Commandos,” the first overall project in his and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, will be getting a major Wonder Woman villain.
Answering a question on Threads, Gunn confirmed that actress Anya Chalotra, who plays Yennefer of Vengerberg in Netflix’s “The Witcher” TV series, will take on the voice role of Circe in the series.
Gunn adds that “there are other cool characters in the show played by other cool actors. But all of the series regulars were announced”.
As previously indicated, the show is canon to the DCU and thus we could see characters who appear in animated form making the eventual jump to live-action.
The cast for the series includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Zoe Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Dr. Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Indira Varma as The Bride, Sean Gunn as both G.I. Robot and Weasel, and Maria Bakalova as new character Princess Ilana Rostovic.
In addition, Steve Agee and Viola Davis will reprise their “Peacemaker” & “The Suicide Squad” roles of John Economos and Amanda Waller, respectively. Gunn wrote all the episodes.
“Creature Commandos” is expected to premiere sometime later this year.
