Following his first tease of it with a poster yesterday, rapper 21 Savage has released a trailer for an apparent Lionsgate-distributed film about his life titled “American Dream: The 21 Savage Story”.
“Stranger Things” star Caleb McLaughlin and actor/musician Donald Glover play Savage in the clip which serves as a memoir of his incarceration by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2019.
Savage, who was raised in Atlanta but was born in the U.K., was arrested by ICE in 2019 and held for several weeks. The ‘Free 21 Savage’ campaign ultimately led to his release and ability to remain in the country.
Glover, his brother Stephen Glover, Jamal Olori and Fam Udeorji all reportedly direct the trailer which also teases brand new music by Savage.
Jabari Banks, Natasha Lyonne, Victoria Pedretti, Young Mazino, Chad Lindberg, Gail Bean and Druski co-star in the clip which ends saying the film will release in cinemas on Independence Day.
However it’s not clear if a feature film actually exists, or if this is simply an elaborate music video.
