DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has commented on a recent quote from actress Margot Robbie about continuing to play the role of Harley Quinn in the new DC Universe.
In her comments to a trade magazine, Robbie indicated that she sees the role as one that can be passed from actress to actress – but stopped short of saying either she was giving it up or coming back.
Asked about that quote on Threads, Gunn said while he hasn’t spoken with Robbie about the character for some time, there are no plans for anyone else to take on the role in the new DCU:
“I haven’t talked to Margot about Harley for a long time, but I’d love to work with her again as Harley or as someone else. There are no plans at this time for anyone else to play Harley (I mean, other than in Todd’s movie or the animated shows).”
Todd’s movie refers to “Joker: Folie a Deux” which will see Lady Gaga take on the part. Gunn also offered a progress update on the second season of Max’s “Peacemaker”.
He says the second season is “over halfway written” and he’s been writing on it since at least October. Gunn is busy prepping “Superman: Legacy” to shoot in March which will take priority for much of this year.
