By Universal Pictures has reportedly removed writer/director Jordan Peele’s new untitled fourth directorial effort from its planned Christmas Day 2024 release date.
The move isn’t a huge shock. The project’s date was set back in March when the film was originally aimed to film this past Summer.
Then, the writer’s and actors’ strikes happened with little in the way of updates as to the film’s fate. That Universal has now removed it from that date means it’s not clear when we’ll see it now, but hopefully, it will be shot next year.
As with his first three films – “Get Out,” “Us” and “Nope” – the new film is one shrouded in secrecy. There’s also no casting details available beyond rumored returnees like Daniel Kaluuya and Steven Yeun.
Peele’s first two films made $255 million each from budgets of $4.5 million and $20 million respectively. “Nope” was more expensive at $68 million but made less with $172.3 million.
Peele was last seen at the Game Awards show in L.A. last Thursday, where he’s teaming with game-designing auteur Hideo Kojima for the upcoming video game title “OD”.
