Five down, three to go. HBO has premiered the mid-season trailer for its DC series “Lanterns” offering a first look at the events of the final three episodes of the series, which wraps its eight-episode run on October 4th.

The trailer teases the events of episodes to come including scenes with John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) visiting Sinestro, Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) waking up a prisoner somewhere in 2026, and a bit more lantern powers action.

In the comics and series, Green Lanterns are intergalactic peacekeepers who wear rings that give them extraordinary powers.

The series follows experienced Hal and John as they investigate a murder in Rushville, Nebraska, which Jordan believes is an extraterrestrial incident and leads them to darker mysteries and reckonings.

Set within James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, the tone is akin to “True Detective” and other gritty dramas the network is known for.

Chris Mundy (“True Detective: Night Country”) is showrunner and executive producer and writes the series with Damon Lindelof (“Watchmen”) and comic book scribe Tom King (“Supergirl”).

The series also stars Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardener, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Nicole Ari Parker, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
