As part of its Nintendo Direct presentation this morning, Nintendo has unveiled two major Switch 2 games from its legacy franchises – “Metroid” and “Kirby”.

Though the packed showcase offered reveals from over 30 games, it was the two big titles that caught everyone’s attention.

The first is “Metroid Ravenous,” a side-scrolling sequel to 2021’s critically acclaimed “Metroid Dread”, which will launch on January 28th. Players will once again step into the boots of Samus Aran as she fights her way out of an unknown moon.

Also coming is “Kirby and the World Beyond,” a 3D game with a more open-style world than previous efforts with the pink ball. As per usual, Kirby will be able to copy and use the abilities of enemies to dispatch them.

Kirby is also seen holding the Master Sword from Zelda in one scene in the trailer. The title follows on from the success of 2022’s “Kirby and the Forgotten Land”. The new game has set a Spring 2027 release.

Check out those and several other trailers from the Direct below including “Persona 6,” “Persona 4 Revival,” “Mega Man: Dual Override,” “Onyx: The Dark Grip,” and “Star Fox Adventures”.
