There’s been a lot of drama and uncertainty these last few months about whether or not Tom Hardy will return for the third season of MobLand. There were rumours that the actor had been fired from the Paramount+ series, but thankfully, everything was officially worked out. Hardy is returning, and the show was officially renewed for a third season. Helen Mirren, who stars in MobLand alongside Hardy and Pierce Brosnan, has already spoken out in support of Hardy, but she’s now added the final word on the behind-the-scenes drama.
Helen Mirren on Tom Hardy in MobLand
While chatting with Entertainment Weekly, Mirren confirmed that “Tom is very much in.”
When it comes to witnessing how the media handled the situation as someone on the inside, the actress said, “The work that we do, we’re always in a new world, in a different situation, working with different people, having to create a new family, a new situation. And sometimes there’s a squeak and an awkwardness going on and people are not toast and butter. In a way, those things can concentrate the mind, because you realize the value in what you’ve got. And I hope that’s what people realized with MobLand. It’s a great show, people love doing it, people love watching it, and it sorted itself out.“
She also made it clear that she was not “roped into” defending Hardy when she said she would continue working with the actor “in a f***ing heartbeat.“
“I did not get roped into it. No one asked me. I was simply saying the truth of me and my situation and where we stand on this, and incidentally Pierce also did [the same],” she said. “We absolutely love working with this guy, we love doing the show, and we would love to continue, and that’s all there really is to it. But we weren’t roped into anything.“
MobLand Season 2
The second season of MobLand will debut on Paramount+ on September 18.
The new season “is about the Harrigans’ struggle to show a unified front as rivals threaten the family’s fractured criminal empire. Meanwhile, Harry Da Souza, the Harrigans’ street-smart and formidable ‘fixer,’ must walk a dangerous tightrope when tensions between relations intensify. As violence spills into every corner of these characters’ lives, loyalties snap, safety proves temporary, and the battle for power leaves no room for mercy.“
