HBO has finally officially renewed “IT: Welcome to Derry” for a second season, the cabler announcing the news with a brief video below.

The second season takes place in 1935 during the Great Depression and centers on the bloody massacre of the Bradley Gang, a group of bank robbers who stop in Derry to buy ammo and end up facing unimaginable horror.

The order comes through ten months after the first season premiered back in October last year, with Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane serving as co-showrunners. The upcoming second season will see Brad Caleb Kane taking over as sole showrunner.

Sarah Aubrey, Head of HBO Max Original Programming, says in a statement:

“We are excited to return to the chilling world of Derry and to further expand on Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s horrifically iconic adaptation. Together with Brad Caleb Kane, they will break new ground in season two, deepening the terror, the mystery, and the unforgettable Pennywise lore that fans love to devour.”

As before, HBO and Warner Bros. Television will produce the season alongside executive producers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti through their Double Dream production company label.

Brad Caleb Kane, Roy Lee, Dan Lin, Jamie Travis, and Dhana Gilbert will also executive produce. No confirmed release date at present.
