First photos have been released via Vanity Fair from “Andor” creator and “Michael Clayton” writer/director Tony Gilroy’s new film “Behemoth!” starring Pedro Pascal in his first solo leading role.

Much like with ‘Clayton’, Pascal reportedly appears in nearly every scene in the film and replaced his friend Oscar Isaac who was originally cast in the role. Pascal reportedly underwent intensive cello training for the role.

Pascal stars as Alex, a former child prodigy and third-generation studio musician who has spent over two decades travelling, using his skills as a gifted cellist for hire.

Now, he returns to Los Angeles to work on film scores and each time he performs the opening cue from a different fictional movie, the music triggers a flashback revealing why he left and what finally brought him home after nearly 25 years.

Also starring are Hank Azaria as his father, Will Arnett as his brother, Olivia Wilde as an ex-girlfriend, Eva Victor as a fellow cellist, and the likes of Matthew Lillard, Margarita Levieva, and Alexa Swinton.

To make sure each film score has its own identity, Gilroy hired nine composers to tackle a score each – Michael Giacchino, James Newton Howard, Alan Silvestri, Michael Abels, Emily Bear, Lukas Frank, Henry Jackman, Nami Melumad, and Brandon Roberts.

The photos come ahead of the film’s first trailer, which will launch online later this week. Searchlight Pictures has yet to set a release date.
