Just about to start “The Odyssey” promotional rounds, actor/producer Matt Damon has revealed that he is open to returning as amnesiac former CIA agent Jason Bourne for another entry in that series.

In fact, in a recent interview with Parade magazine, Damon indicates he’s open to hearing some pitches for it:

“We’re always looking to try to get another one of those because we loved it, everyone who worked on them. So there’s always some attempt going on to write, to come up with a new story. So if you have anything, let us know.”

Rights to the original Robert Ludlum “The Bourne Identity” novel, which had been held at Universal Pictures and led to the creation of its famed franchise, went on the market last year before returning to Universal. Frank Marshall, as always, will produce.

“Conclave” director Edward Berger has been attached to direct the next film for a few years now and about a year ago he says he’d still do it if Damon wants to. At the time, “Black Doves” showrunner Joe Barton was penning a script.

The franchise overall has pulled in $1.64 billion at the global box office and is generally considered the most successful spy film franchise after James Bond.

Damon is rumored to be up for the lead in “Everything Everywhere All At Once” directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s next film also at Universal.
