Marvel has debuted a new ‘roll call’ trailer for the second season of its highly acclaimed animated series “X-Men ’97” which is officially set to return on Disney+ from July 1st.
In the season, the X-Men are scattered throughout time and must find their way back to the 1990s while facing Apocalypse. The new run seems to be inspired by the “Age of Apocalypse” comic storyline.
New and returning mutants can be glimpsed in the trailer, which is set to Thomas Bergersen and Two Steps from Hell’s “Moving Mountains” track. That number was a go to piece of trailer music in the 2000s for movies like “Twilight: New Moon” and “Jumper”.
The voice cast includes Ray Chase, Jennifer Hale, Alison Sealy-Smith, Cal Dodd, J. P. Karliak, Lenore Zann, George Buza, A. J. LoCascio, Holly Chou, Isaac Robinson-Smith, Matthew Waterson, Ross Marquand and Adrian Hough.
Matthew Chauncey takes over as showrunner following the exit of Beau DeMayo. Chauncey also oversaw rewrites for the season.
The world premiere event for the season is underway this afternoon at the Tribeca Festival in New York.
