After their success together with “Fallout,” Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan’s Kilter Films is teaming with Amazon MGM Studios for a live-action TV series revival of the hit 1980s cartoon “Jem and the Holograms”.

However, this version will be a little different as it has been described as an “elevated live-action technothriller series”. Hasbro Entertainment is backing the project.

Created by Christy Marx, the original series ran from 1985-1988 and follows Jerrica Benton, a record company owner who moonlights as the singer of a rock band, Jem and the Holograms.

The show was filled with music videos and original songs, including the popular theme “Truly Outrageous”.

Long after it ended, the series still managed to rank among the top three most-watched syndicated kids’ programs throughout the 1990s.

“Wicked” helmer Jon M. Chu directed an attempted live-action musical revival of the property in 2015, but that was a famous flop grossing just $2.3 million at the global box-office off a $5 million budget.
