Microsoft held its Xbox Showcase today as part of Summer GamesFest and confirmed that the company is going in an expected direction, starting with “Gears of War: E-Day”.

Namely, they’re going back to having some console exclusives again – meaning a select few titles won’t be showing up on either PS5 or Switch 2.

It’s a reverse course for the game publisher that has sent a number of titles to PS5 in recent years, where they have sold rather well.

It certainly won’t be a blanket rule. While the new ‘Gears’ will be an Xbox Console exclusive, every other game showcased is getting a PS5 release including the “Fable,” “Halo,” and “Metro” titles.

The Showcase launched with extensive gameplay for the new ‘Gears’ which is set 14 years before the events of the original game.

Marcus Fenix (John DiMaggio) and Dom Santiago (Carlos Ferro), two soldiers from the Coalition of Ordered Governments (COG), must survive the Emergence Day in which a race of subterranean creatures known as the Locust Horde emerges from their underground lair and overwhelms the surface world of Sera.

“Gears of War: E-Day” launches October 6th on Xbox and PC.
