Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II” is now shooting in the UK. The film has been a long time coming, the title going into production four years after its predecessor hit cinemas.

Robert Pattinson reprises his role of Bruce Wayne/Batman and recently touched upon his return while doing early press for “The Odyssey” with an interview in GQ conducted weeks ago.

In the interview, he indicated a stuntman told him they have 11 weeks of night shooting ahead and he’s already been hitting the gym to play Bruce Wayne again.

Pattinson got into good shape for the last film, but still was on the receiving end of criticism from people who weren’t happy that he didn’t look like someone who lived in a gym (or, more accurately, took hormones/steroids to achieve his look). Pattinson indicates he got annoyed by people who said he “didn’t work out at all”:

“I worked out every f—ing day. Even after that, I still look like I didn’t work out. I worked out twice a day at, like, three o’clock in the morning.”

He says that despite having done a bunch of movies since the first film, include three this year with “The Drama,” “Dune: Part Three” and “The Odyssey,” he was surprised playing Batman didn’t open more ‘doors’ for him:

“It’s funny, because when you do a big movie, you kind of forget almost immediately how frustrating it is. I mean, there’s just nothing worse in the world when you just can’t get the jobs.

I just remember after Batman I was thinking like, I’ll do another massive job afterwards, and I couldn’t find the thing. And it was incredibly frustrating because I thought there was like a secret door which opened and like suddenly all these different projects are there. They’re not. This doesn’t exist. And it’s because the whole industry’s different.”

Pattinson also briefly touched upon his “The Odyssey” role as Antinous, comparing his character to a Scorsese classic:

“My character’s a little like James Woods in ‘Casino’. That was my inspiration for it. I thought it’d be quite nice to see it in Ithaca. And he’s like a little sleazy. I kept saying at my costume fitting, I was like, ‘I really want to have leopard underpants.’ I want to have it just coming out of my skirt, a little sparkly fur.”

You can see Pattinson in “The Odyssey” opening July 17th, “Dune: Part Three” opening December 18th, and “The Batman: Part II” opening October 1st 2027.
