Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated “The Thick of It,” “In the Loop” and “Veep” creator Armando Iannucci has been set to co-write a fourth “Paddington” movie at StudioCanal.
Iannucci will be joined by his long-standing and fellow Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated writing partner Simon Blackwell, who worked with him on all those aforementioned projects.
The hiring was first teased back at CinemaCon when a fourth film was announced as being in development with “world-renowned comedy writers” having been hired. They’ve certainly fulfilled that promise.
In addition, award-winning commercials and music videos director Dougal Wilson will return to direct the next film after making his feature debut with the third movie, “Paddington in Peru”.
Paul King directed the first two films and penned the first, along with co-writing the second with Simon Farnaby. The third film saw a mix of writers, including Mark Burton, Jon Foster and James Lamont, working on the script.
Rosie Alison will return as producer. The three films in the series thus far have earned in excess of $800 million.
