The upcoming “Masters of the Universe” boasts a very stacked cast filled with many of the characters from the original cartoon series.

There are, however, a few absentees not in any of the marketing. One of those is rumoured to make an appearance in a post-credits scene, but another that seemingly won’t be is also one of the most famous – the princess of power herself She-Ra.

Filmmaker Travis Knight was recently asked by SFX Magazine (via CBM) if He-Man’s twin sister will make her live-action debut in the film, and he suggests they’re saving her for a sequel:

“I can say very little about She-Ra. For me, She-Ra has always been a big part of the Masters world and a big part of Adam’s story. In the fullness of time, if we’re lucky to tell more stories in this universe, She-Ra will play a huge part.”

He didn’t stop there. In a further quote, he indicated that some big scenes made for the film aren’t there any longer as they had to be removed in order to fit the film’s current 140-minute runtime. It sounds like She-Ra, or her non-transformed counterpart Princess Adora, may have been involved in some way:

“Whether or not she plays any part in this movie, I cannot say – but we definitely had many, many conversations about the character. There are giant scenes in the movie that aren’t there any longer. I am very proud of the movie, but there are definitely things that I love that we had to cut. Hopefully, they will get to see the light of day at some point.”

She-Ra debuted in 1985 and went on to get her own animated spinoff, “She-Ra: Princess of Power”. The character was revived for a five-season series for Netflix which ended in 2020.

A live-action “She-Ra” series is currently in development for Prime Video with Heidi Schreck on board as writer and executive producer.

“Masters of the Universe” has set up a very elaborate Castle Grayskull facade for the Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles for the film’s premiere tonight. The film itself doesn’t open for another two weeks.
