The arrival of “Avengers: Doomsday” in December and “Avengers: Secret Wars” in 2027 marks a sea change for the studio as it moves forward into a future that hopes to reverse the slump of the early 2020s.

To that effect, The Wrap reports that Marvel Studios has taken a Saturday night spot at San Diego Comic-Con in July – likely the kick-off point for the next round of “Avengers: Doomsday” promotion – which will continue through D23 in August.

Marvel made headlines yesterday when Andy Park, Marvel’s director of visual development, revealed on social media that he left the studio after 16 years as part of Disney’s layoffs of around 1,000 roles following its enterprise marketing division consolidation.

Park joined the studio in 2010 and started by working on “Captain America: The First Avenger” before creating concept art for multiple films in recent years.

Staff at Marvel Studios were impacted by the layoffs, with a skeleton crew of a visual development team and people hired on a project-by-project basis.

Polygon reports that the changes in the department could have a big impact on the visual look of Marvel movies going forward, as the team was responsible for keeping the visual look between films consistent and tied heavily back to the comic source material.
