“Grand Theft Auto” and “Red Dead Redemption” maker Rockstar Games has confirmed that it has suffered a new data breach following a hacker group claiming to have acquired a large amount of information from the famed developer.

In a statement to Kotaku, Rockstar confirmed the breach and claims that it will have “no impact on our organisation or our players”.

They add that they can “confirm that a limited amount of non-material company information was accessed in connection with a third-party data breach”.

The group, ‘ShinyHunters’, previously targeted the likes of Microsoft, Cisco, AT&T, and Ticketmaster and claims it had breached Rockstar via a third-party analytics platform. They’ve issued a deadline of this Tuesday regarding this breach.

Specifics of what was in the breach haven’t been revealed, but according to VGC the potential exposure includes financial records, marketing plans, contract information, and player spending data.

The breach harkens back to an infamous hack of the company in 2022 which saw early “Grand Theft Auto 6” gameplay footage leaked online – before the game was officially announced. An 18-year-old was convicted for that.

“Grand Theft Auto 6” is still on track for a November 19th 2026 release.
