Fathom Entertainment is teaming with Cinverse for the planned 20th anniversary theatrical re-release of Guillermo del Toro’s masterpiece “Pan’s Labyrinth”.

An October 9th release date has been set for the re-release, which will present the film in 4K on the big screen for the first time. The title will be available in both 3D and HDR by Barco.

The film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival 20 years ago where it reportedly received the festival’s longest standing ovation at 22 minutes long. The Spanish-language film received critical acclaim and won three Academy Awards out of its six major nominations.

Set in 1944 in Spain, Ofelia and her ailing mother arrive at the post of her mother’s new husband, a sadistic army officer who is trying to quell a guerrilla uprising.

While exploring an ancient maze, Ofelia encounters the faun Pan, who tells her that she is a legendary lost princess and must complete three dangerous tasks in order to claim immortality.

Cineverse Chief Motion Pictures Officer Yolanda Macias says in a statement: “Fathom’s incredible success distributing special engagement releases around major anniversaries makes it the ideal partner as we bring existing and new fans back into the masterpiece from the creative mind of Guillermo del Toro.”

Cineverse will be at CinemaCon next week to promote the re-release and other 2026 slate titles.
