The Mummy is here already. Which Mummy? The Mummy, not that Mummy. Lee Cronin’s Mummy. Or, to give it is’t proper title, Lee Cronin’s The Mummy.

Lee Cronin’s The Mummy is released this coming Friday. This is the supernatural horror film from James Wan’s Atomic Monster, Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, and New Line Cinema.

It is part of the more compact movies based on Universal’s monster catalogue, following the epic failure of their Dark Universe a few years ago. It belongs in the same orbit as The Invisible Man from 2020, and Wolf Man from last year.

One thing not to confuse it with are The Mummy movies featuring Brendan Fraser, and therein lies the problem.

It has been all over the world of movies that Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to return for a fourth instalment in that franchise in 2028.

As a result the marketing teams for this Blumhouse version have a challenge. A challenge they have decided to lean into and enjoy.

Now, they are making daily posts on X, reminding fans that Brendan Fraser isn’t in this one.

Of course, these have now spawned some viral marketing all of their own, including memes.

Lee Cronin’s version opens on April 17th and will neatly fill the counter-programming gap against The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
