Netflix has confirmed that City Hunter 2 is now in production, following the massive global success of the 2024 live-action hit City Hunter.

Based on the iconic manga by Tsukasa Hojo, the first film introduced audiences to Ryo Saeba – an elite marksman with a reputation as both a brilliant detective and an incorrigible playboy. Forced into an uneasy alliance with his late partner’s sister, Ryo set out to uncover the truth behind a mysterious death, blending action, humor, and noir-style intrigue.

The gamble paid off. After debuting on April 25, 2024, the film shot to the top of Netflix’s global charts, holding the number one spot for three weeks. It racked up an impressive 23.1 million hours watched and 13.3 million views early on, eventually climbing to 26.1 million views by the end of 2025.

With numbers like that, a sequel was inevitable – and now, fans can look forward to Ryo Saeba returning for another high-stakes case. While plot details remain under wraps, expectations are sky-high for an even bigger, bolder follow-up.

City Hunter 2 is shaping up to be another must-watch action event.
