
In a surprising move, HBO has unveiled the teaser trailer for its lavish “Harry Potter” television series.
In addition, the premium cable network has announced that the first episode will premiere on HBO this Christmas.
The series is a faithful retelling of J.K. Rowling’s novels, with each season adapting one book from the seven-part saga and including material the film’s skipped over.
The series is led by newcomers Dominic McLaughlin as the titular character, Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.
Joining them are John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, and Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, and Gabriel Harland as George Weasley.
