Former Las Vegas showgirl turned Oscar nominated actress Valerie Perrine has died. She was 82.

Perrine was diagnosed in 2015 with Parkinson’s disease, which robbed her of her mobility and eventually her ability to eat and speak.

Her death at her home in Beverly Hills was announced by friend and soulmate Stacey Souther, writing: “She faced Parkinson’s disease with incredible courage and compassion, never once complaining. She was a true inspiration who lived life to the fullest – and what a magnificent life it was.”

Perrine is best remembered for her role as the soft-hearted Eve Teschmacher, the put upon assistant to Gene Hackman’s Lex Luthor in the first two “Superman” films.

She earned her Oscar nomination for portraying Lenny Bruce’s drug-addicted stripper wife in “Lenny”. She also was the love interest of Jeff Bridges “The Last American Hero” and Robert Redford in “The Eletric Horseman”.

Other works included the disco-themed flop “Can’t Stop the Music,” ” W.C. Fields and Me,” “The Magician of Lublin,” “The Border,” “What Women Want” and the adaptation of Vonnegut’s “Slaughterhouse-Five”. She also made history – becoming the first woman whose breasts were intentionally exposed on U.S. television when she appeared in the PBS telefilm “Steambath”.

Perrine led a colorful life – studying psychology in University, serving as the lead dancer at the Stardust Hotel in Vegas, lost her fiance in a gun accident and was invited to Sharon Tate’s house the day of the Manson murders but declined due to work commitments.
