A reboot of Buffy the Vampire Slayer was on the way, and it’s been cancelled already. The reboot was going to Hulu, but after the pilot, Hulu decided not to move forward with it.

The reboot of Buffy saw Sarah Michelle Gellar back, but not Joss Whedon, the original creator. Instead, they drafted in Chloe Zhao to direct the pilot episode. You remember Zhao, she’s the lady who directed The Eternals. You must remember The Eternals, it was, umm, epic.
Talking to Variety, Zhao said:
“I had an incredible, incredible time with Sarah [Michelle Gellar], with all the cast and crew doing this. And we, first and foremost, see ourselves as the guardians of the original show.”
“Our priority for Sarah and for us has always been to be truthful to the show, to be truthful to our fans. So, things happen for a reason, and we keep our hearts open and we welcome the mystery. And what this might lead us to.”
Zhao was nominated for the Oscars for directing Hamnet. She wore all black, including a veil. She said this was inspired by “the crow. The power of taking and letting things die, so something new can come through.” Maybe The Eternals 2? #TooSoon
The new Buffy series, which was going to be entitled New Sunnydale, would have seen Michelle Gellar pass the slaying on to a new ‘Buffy’.
I really want to see that first episode now, it was so bad they cancelled the entire show. It must have been truly awful!
