HBO has announced that the first trailer for the highly anticipated live-action Green Lantern series “Lanterns” will go online tomorrow.
The project, part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe, offers a new take on Green Lantern mythology with an HBO-style detective story.
The story follows legendary Green Lantern Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler), a legend amongst the space police force known as the Green Lanterns.
He is reluctantly mentoring John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), a younger Green Lantern, and the two intergalactic cops get drawn into a dark, Earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.
Kelly Macdonald, Ulrich Thomsen, Garret Dillahunt, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, Nicole Ari Parker and Nathan Fillion co-star in the series, which was shot in Los Angeles last year.
The series is co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King with the first two episodes directed by James Hawes. It’s expected to arrive sometime in the Summer.
