The first season of HBO’s sword-swinging fantasy series “Game of Thrones” spin-off series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” came to an end with an unexpected surprise – one that won’t be sticking.

SPOILERS AHEAD FOR “A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS” SEASON FINALE

The episode sees the closing title card change from “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” to “A Knight of the Nine Kingdoms,” the moment has people confused and wondering if HBO is altering the title of the show much like AMC has changed “Interview with the Vampire” to “The Vampire Lestat” for its third season due to the source material change.

Speaking with Variety, co-creator and showrunner Ira Parker confirms that “we’re not changing the name of the show” and says that the title card is “maybe me getting a little too jokey…People may hate it or crucify me for that, but there’s a bit of a lighter touch to these shows. It came from an honest place. It’s all true. It’s nine kingdoms at that point.”

Parker also spoke about the episode’s final scene in which Prince Maekar realizes Egg is missing and shouts, “Where the f— is he? Parker says “the very, very, very end was almost just meant as a joke” but people “took that quite literally”.

As a result, he says he’s “maybe had to deal with it a little bit more in Season 2 than I was planning to.” Parker confirms the second will cover George R.R. Martin’s second “Dunk and Egg” novella “The Sworn Sword” while the third will tackle “The Mystery Knight”.

He also confirms that, like the first season, the plan is for just six episodes with HBO giving them the flexibility to run anywhere between 30-60 minutes.
