Paramount and Point Grey have confirmed that the upcoming animated sequel “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem 2” has been delayed.

Originally slated for an early Fall bow on September 17th 2027, the film is now going for a late Summer release on August 13th 2027.

The move is to allow for the film to open when various North American schools are still off and can bring in the kids, whereas in September, they’re more occupied with school-related stuff.

The first film opened early August 2023 and landed a $43 million five-day start ahead of a global box-office haul of $182 million. More importantly though, it helped spur $1 billion in retail sales for the Paramount Consumer Products division.

Jeff Rowe returns to direct the sequel, with Kyler Spears and Yashar Kassai co-directing. Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver, Josh Fagen and Ramsay McBean produce.

At present, the only other films on that date are an unannounced Universal-Blumhouse movie, and the Tim Miller-directed sci-fi film “Shiver” starring Keanu Reeves.
