Marvel Studios has released a trailer today, but not for an upcoming movie, rather for a movie that takes place within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

More specifically, the trailer is for the original 1980s campy superhero/sci-fi adventure “Wonder Man” movie within the “Wonder Man” series on the Disney+ service.

The film, which stars ‘Brent Willard’ and ‘Jackie Kay’, is briefly glimpsed in scenes in the recent “Wonder Man” series as a movie that inspired the child version of Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul Mateen II) to become an actor. A reboot of this in-universe film becomes central to the plot of the show.

The clip comes as DanielRPK reported that Marvel is “very close” to giving a second season of “Wonder Man” a greenlight following the superb reception to the first season.

Only two live-action MCU shows have landed second seasons so far – “Loki” and “Daredevil: Born Again”.

Co-creator, executive producer and director of the first two episodes, Destin Daniel Cretton, returns to the MCU in July with “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which he directed, opening in cinemas.
