Netflix premiered its mystery crime drama series “Untamed” back in July last year to fairly good reviews – even as inevitable comparisons were made to “The Dry” films.
The project starred Eric Bana as Kyle Turner, a National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB) special agent working at Yosemite National Park and grieving the loss of his young son years prior.
When a woman mysteriously dies on El Capitan, he’s called in to investigate. Sam Neill, Rosemarie DeWitt, Lily Santiago and Wilson Bethel co-star.
Though originally pitched as a limited miniseries, the title became the third most-watched title on Netflix in the second half of 2025, with 92.8 million views according to the streamer’s semi-annual report. It was quickly renewed for a second season.
Now, Deadline reports that the next season will see Bana’s character travelling to a different national park – Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park.
The agent has been called to investigate a mysterious death on the islands, where “local tensions and the volatile, living landscape become an unpredictable force”.
While the first season was set in Yosemite, it was primarily shot in British Columbia, Canada. The second season, on the other hand, will be on location in Hawaii.
John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television will shoot the six-episode season this Spring. Bana, Mark L. Smith, Elle Smith, John Wells, Erin Jontow, Todd Black, Tony Shaw, Steve Lee Jones and Cliff Roberts executive produce.
