Actor Vincent D’Onofrio is currently out doing promotion for the FX/Hulu series “The Beauty,” his interviews coming just a month before he’ll be at it again promoting the second season of Marvel’s “Daredevil: Born Again” in which he reprises his role of Wilson Fisk.
The first season of “Daredevil: Born Again” ended with his character now Mayor of New York City in the MCU and cracking down on superheroes while the second season will deal with that.
The upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” film will see Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle/The Punisher cross over from that first “Daredevil” season, while the previous “Spider-Man” film saw Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil appearing. Will D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk join them some day?
Speaking with The Playlist, he was asked what he’d imagine a crossover for his character would be. D’Onofrio says: “No. I think I’ll just wait until they have the rights to my character and they put me in one of those movies, and then I’ll figure it all out.”
This matches with comments last year where he said it’s “a very hard thing to do” for Marvel to use his characters due to ownership issues and he’s “only usable for television series” at this point.
The comments have shot down several scoops from a while back suggesting a potential Wilson Fisk/Kingpin cameo in a mid-credit or post-credit scene. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” opens in July.
