I actually love Monday now, mainly because I’m not at work. Don’t get me wrong, the job is cool, but I’m the new guy, the bottom of the rung, the lowest of the low.
I’m like the Ruin Johnson of my new trade. Well, apart from the stupid mistakes I’m making is because I’m new, and not ‘subverting expectations’.
Since it’s Monday, it’s time for new memes to put a smile on that miserable face, and we can have a moan. Did you see anything this weekend that you need to vent about?
I managed to see three movies, all of them British. One of them was The Monster Club (1981), which I loved as a kid. I first saw it on Super 8mm in my home-made cinema. As a kid, it scared me to death, and even now, as an adult, it’s still rather creepy. It’s a horror comedy, and some of the comedy is subtle, but very funny.
It’s an anthology, or a portmanteau, as I knew them. There’s one segment where a vampire has a ‘stake-proof vest’.
In another scene, some people are carrying a coffin out of a house, and the music is all sombre, until they reach the garden gate. The guy at the front has to kick the gate open a few times, and the music skips when he does it.
The Monster Club has some good stories, is funny and creepy at the same time. And you’ve never seen a stripper like this before.
It’s not really a moan for Monday, just a nice trip down memory lane. What did you watch this weekend and need to moan about? Vent your anger this Monday.
