Legendary film producer Irwin Winkler has confirmed that Michael B. Jordan will return to both star in and direct “Creed IV,” a fourth movie in the celebrated “Rocky” spin-off franchise.
Jordan made his directorial debut on the third film that released in March and ended up grossing $275.3 million worldwide from a $75 million budget. It continued the franchise’s critically praised status with an 88% on RT and 73/100 on MC, higher aggregate scores than the second film.
Participating in a Q&A, Winkler revealed (via Deadline) the news to the crowd saying: “We’re planning to do Creed IV right now, and we have a really good story, really good plot”.
He added that the plans for the film were delayed because of the strikes, but timetable wise “probably a year from now we’re going for pre-production”.
A fourth “Creed” was first teased back when the third came out earlier this year but nothing had been heard of since.
The third film was penned by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin from a story they co-wrote with Ryan Coogler. No word on who is scripting the fourth installment at this time.
