James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” topped the box-office again globally this past weekend, the title adding a further $86 million worldwide in its fourth weekend of release, bumping it up to $1.23 billion.
Though highly impressive, the film appears to be losing steam a bit faster than “Avatar: The Way of Water”, which was at $1.7 billion by the end of its fourth weekend, ahead of a $2.3 billion total.
With no holidays this weekend, the film fell 52%. Domestically, the film is the first since “Barbie” in 2023 to rank No. 1 for four weekends in a row.
The title recently surpassed “Lilo & Stitch” to become the second-highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2025 behind only “Zootopia 2”, which is currently at $1.65 billion and still going with a further $40.9 million worldwide in its seventh weekend.
Meanwhile, “The Housemaid” is up to $192.5 million worldwide and looks likely to cross the $200 million mark – a big success for a $35 million-budgeted feature. “Anaconda” passed the $100 million mark this weekend, adding a further $12.7 million worldwide for a $110.1 million total – not bad for a $45 million budgeted film.
Paramount’s “Primate” opened domestically and with very limited overseas markets, the title pulling in $11.3 million in the US and $13.4 million worldwide. “Greenland 2: Migration” meanwhile landed at $8.5 million domestically and $12.8 million worldwide.
The new “SpongeBob” film and “Marty Supreme” are now up to $132.2 million worldwide and $84.1 million worldwide respectively.
