A new report claims that Marvel Studios’ long-in-development “Blade” film is no longer in development.

During this week’s episode of The Hot Mic, scooper Jeff Sneider said he’s heard that the Blade reboot is now “dead” with the plan for actor Mahershala Ali to make his debut as Blade in the “Midnight Suns” movie.

Ali was first announced as the vampire slayer character seven years ago. Since then, the film’s development has seen multiple writers and directors come and go, with delays piling up each time.

Michael Green, Stacy Osei-Kuffour, Michael Starrbury, Beau DeMayo, Nic Pizzolatto and Eric Pearson have all taken a shot at the screenplay while several directors have come and gone.

Ali, while out promoting “Jurassic World Rebirth,” told outlets that he’s ready, but the ball is in Marvel’s court.

After the most recent delay, Marvel’s Kevin Feige previously indicated his company is “committed” to seeing Blade to fruition.
